The right diagnosis, right away.

An accurate diagnosis is essential to determining the most effective treatment plan. We analyze the tumor and your healthy brain tissue using advanced approaches, so we can make treatment decisions that are more precise and personalized for you. Our multidisciplinary team, which includes neuroradiologists specially trained in neurologic imaging, uses leading-edge diagnostic tools like:

This imaging system uses a stronger magnetic field to produce more detailed images of the body’s interior. These highly detailed brain scans enhance our ability to diagnose and treat patients with brain tumors.

We analyze your tumor’s DNA and predict which treatments will work best for your specific tumor type.

We are the only providers in the Greater Phoenix area to offer this comprehensive mapping for cortical and subcortical regions of the brain. Accurate up to 2–3 mm, it allows for more precise resection planning.

Helps us determine the tumor’s firmness and adhesion to healthy brain tissue, so your surgical team can plan with precision. This state-of-the art technology was invented at Mayo Clinic.

The most innovative treatment options anywhere.

Our team is highly skilled in even the most complex brain tumor treatments. Our radiation therapies are designed to target tumor cells and minimize effects on healthy brain tissue. And when surgery is the best option, we use advanced technologies to operate closer to vital areas of the brain with confidence and make procedures safer. Treatment options include:

Delivers precise radiotherapy to the tumor with less radiation to the surrounding brain tissue.

Includes Gamma Knife®, which delivers a high dose of radiation to a very small area of the brain.

Also known as an awake craniotomy, this allows our surgical team to ask questions of the patient and monitor activity in the brain during the responses. This back-and-forth helps ensure the surgery to remove a tumor isn’t affecting the patient’s communication and cognition skills.

Used in conjunction with awake brain surgery to map the brain and help surgeons maintain functional areas.

Innovative tools that help the care team plan the least invasive approach to surgery.

Allows the surgical team to visualize the tumor’s location more precisely for more thorough and accurate resection.

Also known as laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT), this minimally invasive procedure uses a precisely focused laser beam to destroy tumor cells.

These options enable faster recovery with fewer side effects. Examples include key-hole surgery, radiosurgery, laser ablation therapy, and proton beam radiotherapy.

Clinical trials offer even more hope.

As an academic and research institution, our physicians constantly conduct research to bring advancements to patients faster. You’ll gain access to cutting-edge clinical trials and the latest treatments like investigational immunotherapies — which use a patient’s own immune system to fight cancer — all backed by Mayo Clinic’s nationally recognized expertise.
