Experts in Surgery and Personalized Care for Cavernous Malformation
At Mayo Clinic, you’ll have a neurovascular team of experts with the experience and innovative technology to accurately diagnose cavernous malformation and provide a personalized care plan.
We have deep experience in evaluating and monitoring the condition over time, and offer non-surgical and surgical options, as well as clinical trials. We treat adults and children for even the most complex cerebrovascular conditions, including a large number of people who have cavernous malformations.
Accuracy with advanced diagnostic and treatment options.
Your Mayo Clinic care team will take the time to explain your diagnosis, the risk of future symptoms, and your treatment options. We work with you to develop a personalized care plan, assessing the risks and benefits of surgery and of a non-surgical management approach.
We provide multidisciplinary team care by experts including vascular neurologists, epileptologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neuropsychologists, neuroophthalmologists, geneticists, brain rehabilitation specialists (physiatrists with associated therapists), and dermatologists. We also have an epilepsy monitoring unit.
Mayo Clinic experts use advanced technology and imaging techniques to help determine the most effective treatment for each individual patient. Prior to surgery, our neurosurgeons often perform simulations with state-of-the-art technology, including 3-D modeling and holography, to visualize complex structures within the patient’s brain. This step is highly personalized and the least invasive approach that reduces the need for repeat procedures.
Mayo Clinic also offers the most advanced technologies and highest resolution imaging, including 7-Tesla MRI, for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
