Experts in Dural Arteriovenous Fistula Diagnosis and Surgical Options

At Mayo Clinic, you’ll have a team of experts in dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) who work together to provide you with an accurate diagnosis and innovative treatment.

Your team will discuss all treatment options with you and develop a personalized care plan based on the location and characteristics of your dAVF, your risk of complications, and your overall health.

Expertise matters.

Doctors who are skilled and experienced in all dAVF treatment options are the key to successful outcomes. Every year, Mayo Clinic doctors who have significant experience treating this rare condition evaluate and treat over 450 people with dural arteriovenous fistulas and other vascular malformations affecting the brain.

Innovation at work.

Clinical trials may be available to you. At Mayo Clinic, we are continuously studying new treatments and conducting clinical trials to explore and evaluate new options.

Our experts have broad expertise treating dAVFs with open and minimally invasive procedures and advanced technologies. We offer leading treatment options including:

  • Endovascular procedures.
  • Stereotactic radiosurgery using a linear accelerator (LINAC), Gamma Knife, or proton beam therapy.
  • If those are not an option for you, we also perform dAVF surgery to disconnect the dAVF or cut off the blood supply and remove the fistula.

When it's time to find answers, you know where to go.
