Ear Care, Hearing Restoration and Balance Therapy by Experts at Mayo Clinic in Florida

If you have an ear-related concern that impacts your quality of life, we can help. There are several reasons why your ear concern may be bothering you — and we’re here to help you figure it out.

State-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment options

At Mayo Clinic, you’ll see neurotologists who are experts in identifying the root cause of your ear problem through a thorough evaluation, audiometric testing and advanced imaging technology.

We offer procedures to treat:

  • Benign tumors of the ear such as acoustic neuromas and glomus tumors
  • Abnormal growths in the ear (cholesteatomas and otosclerosis)
  • Hearing loss that could be improved with an implantable hearing device
  • Pulsatile tinnitus
  • Chronic ear infections
  • Meniere’s disease

Mayo Clinic neurotology physicians often work closely with our neurosurgeons to treat tumors and lesions along the skull base including acoustic neuromas, glomus tumors, cerebrospinal fluid leaks and encephaloceles. They also collaborate with our radiation oncologists for radiosurgery treatment of acoustic neuromas and other types of ear tumors.

Reasons to choose Mayo Clinic as a partner on your treatment journey include:

Every service you need, in one place

Our coordinated efforts bring sub-specialized physicians, audiologists and speech and language pathologists together to treat ear and hearing disorders within a single, cohesive unit. We also work closely with highly trained neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists to meet all of your treatment needs while maintaining a focus on quality and safety. We frequently meet as a multidisciplinary tumor board to discuss cases, involving specialists in neurotology, neurology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, and other relevant fields, to develop individualized treatment plans.

Multiple treatment options, including those that are not widely available

We offer non-surgical treatments, including radiation therapy or Gamma Knife radiosurgery, as well as multiple surgical approaches, including translabyrinthine, retrosigmoid and middle cranial fossa. We also offer a range of implantable hearing devices, depending on your preferences.

Follow-up care close to home

After your treatment at Mayo Clinic, you may wish to continue your treatment closer to home. We will work with your local providers to coordinate care near your home, which may include medication management and therapies. We also offer virtual visits for convenient telehealth appointments here at Mayo Clinic.

Virtual visits for added convenience

Telehealth appointments are available. These virtual visits offer convenient scheduling with less time away from work and less travel to the clinic.

Patient stories

Tyler Theobald was playing basketball when the dizziness started. Some might argue that lightheadedness during exercise comes from overexertion, but Tyler knew something was wrong when the room kept spinning, even while he stood still.

A swim instructor, senior living consultant and retired educator, Lynn Maiman is a self-described people person. But for most of her busy and active social life, the Jacksonville, Florida, resident struggled to hear what was happening around her.
